STUDENT FILMAKERS OFFERED TV SHOWCASE

Student filmmakers in the greater Michina area will be offered television exposure for their films begining early next year, according to an announcement from the producers of Beyond Our Control, the weekly satirical review productd by WJA-TV, the Junior Achievement Television Company.

Noting the growing number of high school and college students creating their own films, and the relatively few opportunities for the general public to view these works, the producers of Beyond Our Control will actively seek out creative films by amateur filmmakers to be presented in a special segment of each week's program. Most area college and many high schools, now have filmaking courses or teach a filmmaking unit in English, Drama or other departments, and many young people are working on their own films purely as a hobby. althogh Beyond Our Control is basically satirical in nature, films of all types will be considered for presentation. The producers will provide a complete set of their evaluation guidelines, together with technical specifications, upon request to any interested high school or college student. Inquiries on the project may be directed to the producres of Beyond Our Control at WNDU-TV, Post Office Box 16, South Bend, Indiana, 46624.

Beyond Our Control is now int he early stages of production and is scheduled for its fourth season premiere on Saturday, January 30 at 5:30 PM EST on Channel 16. the half-hour program, a blend of parody, music and irreverent commentary, is produced by twenty-three area high schoolstudents in association with advisers from thestaff of WNDU-tv. The students are members of WJA-TV, a Junior Achievement Company which is in its tenth anniversary season of operation. The company is sponsored by WNDU-TV as an educational project to offer practical broadcasting experience to high school students.
