"BEYOND OUR CONTROL"OFFERS PHILOSOPHY TO THE MASSES

In a rare moment of seriousness, Beyond Our Control offers the wisdom of "Hindsight," a program of deep philosophical thought, as part of its second edition, scheduled for Saturday (January 31) at 6:00 PM EST on Channel 16.

Brother O'Venal (Randy Hassan) introduces the program's presentation of the modern allegorical drama "A Waiting Room," in which a group of total strangers are brought together in a waiting room and, by a process of elimination, conclude that they are actually dead. Ellen Akins is featured as Sarah, who appears to be a simple cleaning woman, but may actually be something highly symbolic of something else. Or something.

In more traditional parodies, Dave Simkins appears as naturalist John Walsh, a man who devotes his life to the preservation of vegetables endangered by our modern environment. On another channel, talk show host Kate Doherty begins a series of programs on "weird things," including the Bermuda Shorts Triangle, UFOs, and Mr. Rogers.

This is the second edition of the Junior Achievement Television Company's weekly comedy show, which is directed by Kate Doherty, Tom Mantke, Jim Poyser and Dave Sutton. Beth Weller is the show's Production Coordinator.
