"BEYOND OUR CONTROL" PREMIERES TWELFTH SEASON

"We had second thoughts about doing Beyond Our Control again this year, " said the shows producers at a recent gala luncheon, "but the thought of all those lost souls sitting at home on Sunday night with nothing to do made us reconsider. We're really doing it for them...oh, and yes, the money and fame."

Adopting a campaign of "We're Back And You Can't Do Any- thing About It," Beyond Our Control returns to the local airwaves this Sunday, January 28th at 6 PM EST, on Channel 16. This is the twelfth seaon for the program.

The contents of the show, according to tradition, are being kept a secret - even from the producers. Possible features might include a look at the new, hip, talkshow "Weekday," a sci-fi thriller entitled "Invasion of the Bozo Snatchers, " and a "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" Holiday Special, among other things. The "channel switch" format used by the company for the past four years will be used again this year. The effect given is one of idle switching between channels - catching shows already in progress, tuning in to out-of-context movie clips, and, of course, an occasional pitch for some totally useless product.

Beyond Our Control is part pf the local Junior Achievement program. The JA company was formed in 1960 by Wm. Thomas Hamilton, Executive Vice-President and General Manager of the WNDU Stations, and turned to the production of Beyond Our Control in 1967. The show was created and produced from its inception by Dave Williams, Promotion Manager for WNDU, until his death in August of 1977.

The company of 29 area high school students write, film, stage, direct, produce, and perform the weekly, half-hour program. Directors for the 1979 season include Laura Lea Keays, Mary Link, Lynn Lodyga, and Marc Wellin. Kevin Fye is the Production Manager.
