"BEYOND OUR CONTROL"OPENS 13TH SEASON THIS SUNDAY

Using a production budget that far exceeds the price of a local telephone call (when one dials direct, of course), the BEYOND OUR CONTROL TV company launches its 13th season with "Star Trek: The Deli", a parody of some other recent motion picture with a similar name. The program will he aired this Sunday (2/17) at 6:00PM on WNDU-TV, Channel 16, South Bend.

Tim Daugherty stars as Captain James T. Kirk, who this time goes where many men have gone before - to a kosher delicatessen on the planet Earth. In fact, Kirk is placed in command of a deli when the Federation decides its current manager (played by Dan Walters) is too inexperienced to handle its grand opening. Joining Captain Kirk aboard the Enterprise Deli will be the usual cast of Star Trek types including Mister Spock, Dr. McCoy and Chief Engineer Scotty (Dennis Mooney, David Akins and Larry Karaszewski).

In other segments of the show, Gayle Carter and Brian Ulicny play for big bucks on "The Deprogramming Game;" Gilligan (Dan Walters) testifies against his best buddy in "The Trial of the Skipper;" and the question of who should raise the child of separated parents goes unanswered in a take-off on "Kramer vs Kramer".

BEYOND OUR CONTROL is written, staged, filmed, produced, performed, edited and directed by Michiana area high school students -- all members of Junior Achievement. The JA company was founded in 1960 as WJA-TV, and became a satirical comedy program in 1967. BEYOND OUR CONTROL was created and produced from its inception by Dave Williams, Promotion Manager for The WNDU Stations, until his death in August of 1977.

David Akins, Tim Daugherty, Larry Karaszewski, Laura Maione, Mike Laughlin and Brian Ulicny are directing BOC this year. Daugherty is also the show's Production Manager.

BEYOND OUR CONTROL is sponsored by WNDU-TV. Station advisors for the program are Denny Laughlin, Joe Dundon, and Patty Nail.
