Dave Williams, circa 1975
Dave Williams (articles; photos), in addition to being WNDU-TV’s Promotions Manager, was the creative force behind Beyond Our Control for over a decade. Explore the links below to find out more about the man who brought sketch television comedy to a small Indiana town along with a world of imagination, creativity, inspiration, and laughter to a few hundred lucky teenagers.

Joe Dundon, circa 1975
Joe Dundon (article; photos) was the man who kept the books during the heyday of Beyond Our Control (concurrently with managing ad sales for WNDU). While juggling the demands of work at WNDU, raising a family, and rooting for the Red Sox during those dark, dark years, Joe held the financial reins (sometimes) attached to hundreds of scatterbrained and hormonally challenged teenagers. The kids were required to sell airtime to local South Bend, Indiana merchants and it was Joe who managed the fears, the accounts, and eventually the money that made the production of Beyond Our Control possible.

Denny Laughlin, circa 1975
Denny Laughlin (articles; photos), WNDU’s Art Director, possessed the artistic heart and soul of Beyond our Control. The trinity of the three mentors (Dave Williams' comedic genius; Joe Dundon's salesmanship) was complete with Denny's ability to convince even the most un-artistically inclined teenager that anything was possible. Armed with colored pens and matte board, Denny supervised the look and feel of the show until its final season in 1986.
